What Is Dry Needling or Cupping?
Dry needling involves inserting an acupuncture type monofilament needle directly into the deep irritated tissue. It is far faster and more precise than any massage you’ve ever had. This technique is highly effective for pain or movement disorders associated with myofascial trigger points. It can decrease tightness, improve blood flow and reduce pain.
Cupping is a gentle, hands-on technique that uses suction cups placed on the skin to help release tightness, improve circulation, and reduce tension in the muscles and connective tissue. By lifting the tissue rather than compressing it, cupping helps create space for improved blood flow and mobility—making it especially effective for stubborn areas of tightness.
This therapy can help decrease muscle tension, improve range of motion, support tissue healing, and calm the nervous system. Many patients find cupping helpful for chronic tightness, postural strain, pregnancy-related discomfort, and postpartum recovery. While it may leave temporary circular marks, these are painless and a normal part of the healing response.
Cupping is often combined with manual therapy and movement-based treatment to support lasting relief and improved function.
